Breaking all Australian records, Astronaut In The Ocean became the hit of 2021. With a whooping 250+million views on Youtube, 2+billion plays on digital platforms, most shazamed song in 2021 and 5 Aria Awards 2021 nominations.

We filmed this in less than a half-day at our studio in Sydney, only Sophian and me (Dan). We used retro projection on our cyclorama studio, simulating the space and other effects behind him.

Lighting-wise, we rigged an overhead softbox to give the back/ambient light, plus a couple of RGB tubes to wrap around with saturated colors.

For Set2 we removed the projector, used a black backdrop full-body then added a warm spotlight as a backlight to glow through the smoke. Simple but effective.

The team 180 Creative in Melbourne added the CGI stuff.
